JOB TITLE:   Procurement Quality Engineer

JOB CODE:         12150

JOB SUMMARY:

The position of Procurement / Quality Engineer provides support in the selection, qualification and monitoring of new / existing suppliers and processes, and supports the overall development of the global supplier base. The Procurement / Quality Engineer will also be the technical liaison for assisting suppliers in resolving problems relating to Quality, Manufacturing, Configuration Management and Procurement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position of Procurement Quality Engineer requires a high level of proficiency and experience in the following disciplines:

Coordinate and perform source surveillance within the global supplier base, assessing procured hardware and materials, assisting suppliers with resolving component, specification and schedule issues.

Able to apply Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality expertise to reduce cost, improve lead-time and drive efficiencies.

bullet

Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate clearly on technical topics at the contracts, engineering and business level.

bullet

Able to demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills.

bullet

Conversant with the following standards and/or principals:

Ø      AS 9100 / ISO 9001/2000 / AS 9102 Quality Standards.

Ø      ANSI Y 14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard.

bullet

Able to review and interpret customer drawings, contracts / purchase orders and applicable processing standards.

bullet

Have current knowledge of special process and related processing techniques, e.g. Heat Treatment, Welding, Conversion Coat, Anodize, Chrome Plating, Passivation & Cad Plating.

bullet

Have the ability to use a wide variety of digital/analogue standard measuring instruments, i.e. Micrometers, vernier calipers, linear and dial gauges, height gauges, thread gauges and a visual comparator.

bullet

Able to perform First Article and in-process inspections on complex components, including being able to utilize the capability of CMM technology.

bullet

Capable of interfacing with senior supplier management representatives.

bullet

Able to perform Quality System and Process surveillance audits.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

A Bachelors Degree or an accomplished accredited four year mechanical engineering Apprenticeship, minimum five (5) years Procurement Quality Assurance experience or (10) years QC / QA experience that relate requirements within the Job Description in an Aerospace environment preferred. Exposure to Government contracts, familiar with the DFAR clauses a plus. Able to work with all standard programs within Microsoft Office. Must be prepared to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.
